Admissions

A student is admitted to the Degree if he/she has passed Two-Year Pre-University Examination conducted by Karnataka P.U. Board or any other examination considered equivalent by Mangalore University. However, those who seek admission to B.Sc. Degree should have studied the respective subjects and those who seek admission to B.Com should have studied, Business Studies and Accountancy at the P.U. level.
No. of students admitted to First year Degree in this academic year is 231, bringing the total no. of students studying in the college in degree classes (i.e. B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.B.M., B.C.A.,) to 655 as against 506 in the academic year 2014-15.

Eligibility for admission

A student is admitted to a degree course if he/she has passed the Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Karnataka PU Board or any other examination considered equivalent by the Mangalore University. However, those who seek admission to B.Sc. should have studied the respective subjects at the PU level and those who seek admission to B.Com. should have studied Business studies and accountancy. For B.C.A., a minimum 40% marks in the qualifying examination is required as per the University norms.

Admission Procedures

  • The applicant should pay Rs. 100/- at the college office towards the application form and Prospectus including Registration fee. Any applicant who wishes to get the application form and the Prospectus by post will have to remit Rs. 125/- by D.D. to the Principal, SVS College, Bantwal.
  • Filled in application form should reach the Principal within 10 days of the publication of the results of the qualifying examination (PUC).
  • A provisional selection of the candidates for admission to various courses will be made taking into consideration their academic record and other activities as shown in the application and as per the Govt. regulation.
  • The candidates so selected will be called for an interview at the college and they should be present on the date and time given for interview accompanied by their parent or guardian. They should submit the following Certificates at the time of interview.
    Cumulative Records (S.S.L.C.) – original.
    Statement of marks of the qualifying examination S.S.L.C. or P.U.C. – original & a xerox copy.
    Transfer Certificate from the institution last attended – original and xerox.
    Conduct Certificate from the head of the institution last studied – original.
    Caste / Income Certificates in the prescribed form – original &xerox copy.
    Migration Certificate and Pass Certificate [for non Karnataka Students].
    The Interview card issued by this College.
    Two Passport size Photos.
  • All admissions made are Provisional and they are subject to approval by Mangalore University.
  • The admission order will lapse if the candidate does not pay the fees before the dates prescribed for payment.
    The candidates withdrawing from the college after their admission will have to forego all fees paid by them. If a Student’s name is on the rolls of the college for any part of a term he/she will be required to pay the fee for the entire year.
  • The mere registration of the application at the college office is no guarantee of selection for admission.
    The principal may refuse admission to any student without assigning any reason.
    Admission for any course is made for one academic year only. Student will be admitted to the next higher class (in the subsequent academic years) on the basis of fresh application for re-admission to that class taking into account their progress, conduct and regularity in attendance during the previous year.
